Batman Arkham City Review

So Arkham City takes place about six months after Arkham Asylum and mayor Sharp formerly warden Sharp and Hugo Strange have turned a large part of Gotham into a super prison where they been throwing all Batman’s greatest villains into. So I’ll skip the opening, so let’s just say Batman is thrown into the super prison and into the longest night of his life.

This time around they give you a bigger world to play around in and more moves and gadgets to play with. The combat is some of the best fist fighting around, it gives you so many moves and gadgets to play with while taking on some of Arkham’s worst, from laying down explosive gel or using the batclaw to pull some poor thug closer to give him a hard punch in the face, you can’t help but feel like a badass, when you are taking on ten guys at once like they’re nothing, its just fun. Stealth is the other big part of this game. It’s better this time around with the A.I being smarter and giving them more things to make it harder for you, from giving some of them heat sensing goggles so they can see you when your hiding in the dark or giving them backpacks that fuck with your Detective mode. It takes some of Batman’s coolest villains and throws them into a small place, so of course your going to have to fight them. some make just cameos, why others are bosses. It makes you play each one different, some are you using stealth to avoid some of them and take them out from behind or a straight up fist fight with one of the great villains. The boss fights are really cool, I can’t remember the last game i played with a real boss fight in it.

The story is great and has a few really good twists, that just left me smiling like an idiot. The dialogue is awesome, I found myself hiding on roofs listening to thugs talking about the prison or the happenings around town. And I just love listening to Mark Hamill’s Joker, its by far my favorite Joker.

It took me about eight or ten hours to beat the game and I barely touched on the challenge rooms, but the ones I did were a lot of fun. And I still haven’t got all the Riddler challenges done and I will be going back to do that.

The only reason you shouldn’t play this game is if you don’t like Batman and that’s not even a good enough reason, this game is a fucking masterpiece.

My point is this is a great game, if not the best game this year, pick this one up.

Top Five Movies

5: Pulp Fiction (1994)

this is one of the greatest movies of all time, with great characters and some of the best lines of all time. Samuel L Jackson, John Travolta are at their best as Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, two of the mob’s best hit men. This movie is all about conversations, they feel so natural and real like a conversation you would have with a friend, not like most movies where the characters are talking like… well like they’re in a movie. If you haven’t seen this, I feel sorry for you.

4:The Warriors (1979)

The Warriors is one of those films you may not have seen but you probably quoted. Its about a gang from Coney Island, who go to a big meeting of all major gangs in New York, where the leader of the biggest gang in the city is gunned down in front of all of them. The Warriors are blamed for it and have to fight their way back to Coney Island. This is a movie that every time I see it I like it even more. With a great soundtrack to back up its chases and fight scenes. This is one you have to see.

3:Yojimbo (1961)

Yojimbo is the best samurai movie ever made. Its about a ronin who wanders into a town cut down the middle between two gangs. Both sides are always looking for more men, so the ronin decides to play both sides against each other to free the town. The ronin is played by the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune. He plays him like no other actor did back then, when the good guys were good and the bad guys were bad. You can just tell by looking at his character, he’s been through some shit and done bad things. This is so good that people have ripped it off at least twice, one with Clint Eastwood called Fist Full Of Dollars (1964) and then again with Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing (1996). The final battle within itself is worth a watch, its just fucking great. You like samurais check this one out.

2:Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

Will Fucking Ferrell is one of those guys who makes every thing he’s in better, and Anchorman:The Legend of Ron Burgundy would still be great without him. I could quote this movie all day but I won’t, let’s just say I love this movie. And with a great supporting cast and a great, great leading man this movie can’t go wrong.

1: Mr. Nice Guy (1997)

Its hard to explain my love for Jackie Chan, I grew up watching his movies and loving every minute of them. Now i’m older and yet I can’t stop rewatching his films. He is one of the greatest action stars of all time and will be one of those guys that every guy who wants to be an action star will want to be like. He stars, directs and he does his own stunts, he’s a fucking mad man. So, out of all his movies I had to pick one so I thought about what one I watched again and again and still loved it, well its Mr. Nice Guy. Jackie plays a Chinese chef, who gets mixed up in a fight between the mob and a gang of crazy dudes. It has great stunts and fight scenes and can be pretty funny at times. So if you want a b-rated movie that’s pretty good check it out.
